Find It in a Book! The Super Story Scavenger Hunt

Dec 09, 2025

Looking for something to keep your child entertained on a rainy day, snow day, or a quiet afternoon spent indoors that hones skills and encourages learning? The Super Story Scavenger Hunt below is just the ticket. With just a few favorite books and a little time, this low-effort, high-reward activity sparks curiosity and boosts literacy. Your child may even rediscover beloved stories you’d forgotten about!

Here’s how it works: Search your books for everything from hearts and rainbows to superheroes and things that roar. Time will fly by in the best way while your child engages with stories, sharpens observation skills, and has fun with you.

Want to take it to the next level? Do a timed search where your young reader has just three minutes to find as many items as they can! Or, try a contest version where you each pick things to look for and find as many as you can before the timer goes off.

Search in your stories for the following items:

  • A number
  • A rainbow
  • Something brown
  • A superhero
  • A real-life hero
  • A type of job
  • A robot
  • A magical creature

  • A star
  • Something that’s square
  • Something that lived a long time ago
  • An insect
  • Something green
