Veggies: Roots and Plants You Can Eat

As you shop for, prepare, cook, and eat vegetables, explain to your child how they grow. Tomatoes start out as little flowers on a green plant. Watermelons grow on vines along the ground. Carrots and potatoes live underground! (Hint: If you can find carrots with the green plant still attached, it makes a great visual lesson!)
