Use Your Kid's Hands To Multiply By Nine

Have your child hold her hands up in front of her, palms facing in. Assign each finger numbers 1 through 10 in order, starting with thumb on her left hand (the pinky on the right hand will be number 6). Then, to multiply 9 x 4, she drops the fourth finger and counts the digits in front of (3) and behind that finger (6) to get the correct answer: 36.
