Trace and Paint ABCs

Attach a large piece of paper to the wall or to an art easel. Take a pencil and lightly trace out large letters (such as the letters of your child's first name). Then, let her trace them in broad strokes with a paintbrush dipped in washable paint. This helps her recognize letters and develop writing skills at the same time. It’s easier for small, unpracticed hands to manipulate a large paintbrush than a small pencil or crayon!
