Reading for Math

As you read your child’s favorite books with her, take some time now and then to go beyond the words on the page and toss in some math literacy. If there’s a page with several children on it, ask her, “How many kids do you see?” and then count with her. You can also point out the different shapes, like squares and circles, in the illustrations.
