Read This Veterans Day Book With Your Child

In honor of Veteran’s Day, share Year of the Jungle by Suzanne Collins with your young reader. This autobiographical picture book chronicles what happens when Suzy’s father leaves for the Vietnam War. Before reading, explain to your child why we celebrate Veterans Day — to honor and appreciate those who serve and have served in the military. Extend the reading by asking your child if she has any questions about veterans or Suzy’s story.
