A Fun Way for Kids to Learn to Spell

Help your child scratch her way through spelling practice by gently scratching letters with your finger on her back and letting her tell you what each letter is. Then, have her tell you what word she just spelled out. Don’t forget to include both upper and lower case letters. After a few minutes, switch places and let her scratch out the letters on your back while you guess the word.  Another fun way to test your child’s skills is to use questions and answers. For example, ask her: “What is your favorite animal?” and tell her to scratch out the answer.
