Encourage Your Child to Open Up About School

It's not uncommon for parents to get sparse, one-word answers to questions like, "How was your day?" or "What did you do today?" Encourage your child to open up by asking open-ended questions that require more substantive answers. For example, try asking what your child's favorite activity of the day was, or which assignment she found most challenging. Asking pointed questions will encourage your child to think more deeply about her day and share significant, meaningful details with you.
