Discuss the Writing Process

Ask your child to describe to you the writing process he uses in school. The typical process includes brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Inquire about which component is your child's favorite, and which part of the process feels most laborious. Then, ask him to show you samples of his work at each stage during the process. Knowing that you're aware of everything that goes in to publishing a great piece of work will encourage him to do his best at every stage.
