Compare What You Can Get for $5

The next time your child is trying to decide how to spend her money, encourage her to compare what she can get for the amount she's planning to spend. For example, if she has $5, you might point out that she can get a book, a card game, a figurine, or two sets of erasers for that amount of money. Visualizing equivalent purchases will help her make a clear decision and increase her awareness of what money is actually worth.
