If you’ve never watched the Kentucky Derby, you might be missing out on an exciting learning opportunity to teach your tween some math. Unlike many other sports though, half the fun is in the prediction of who might be a winner! Ask your child to count how many times a horse goes around a track, discuss the time the horses have to beat a goal, etc. Your child will have a thrilling time -- and she might not even realize she’s doing math.
