Winsome Wind Sock

What you need:

• scissors
• crayons
• stapler/waterproof tape
• hole punch
• yarn
• weatherproof paper (an overnight shipping envelope or disposable painter's coveralls)

What to do:

1. Cut a square from the weatherproof paper.
    
2. Invite your child to decorate the square with crayon illustrations.
    
3. Cut a number of equally sized slits halfway up the square from the bottom to make tails.
    
4. Using a stapler or strong, waterproof tape, attach the right and left sides of the square together from the top down to where the slits begin, to form a cylinder.
    
5. Use a hole-punch to make four holes along the top edge of the cylinder and thread a piece of string or yarn through each of the holes. Tie the strings together a few inches from the opening, hang outside, and watch the wind do its thing.
