About the Author and Illustrator

Sheila Keenan Sheila Keenan is an established author of fiction and nonfiction. Her first graphic novel, Dogs of War, received multiple starred reviews. She co-authored David Macaulay’s How It Works beginning reader series (Castle; Jet; Toilet; Eye), and is the author of the picture book As the Crow Flies and of nonfiction such as Animals in the House: A History of Pets and People; and O Say Can You See? America’s Symbols, Landmarks, and Inspiring Words. She lives in New York City.
