From books and magazines to pocket charts and bulletin boards, it takes a lot to create a fun and welcoming learning environment — and often, you have to reach into your own pocket to purchase books and classroom supplies.

Scholastic’s ClassroomsCount™ campaign allows teachers to get the funding they need to purchase books and other educational materials. By creating your own campaign, you can get the support of family, friends, and extended communities to help provide your students with the tools and resources they need to build new skills and develop a love of learning.

Here are five simple ways you can show your sponsors the impact they make when they contribute to your campaign.

1. Personalized Notes to Students

Have your contributors write a personalized note that you can tuck into each book, whether it be words of encouragement, reading tips, or a few sentences about themselves.

Writing out these messages allows your sponsors to connect with your students and learn about the topics and subjects they’re learning. If your sponsor is passionate about a particular subject your students are learning, they’ll feel more invested in your mission.

2. Photos of Your Classroom Materials

When the Scholastic box arrives, snap a photo of your new products to share with your ClassroomsCount contributors. These pictures will show your sponsors how their contributions are going toward books and other essential learning materials for your students.

3. Book Recommendations

Whether it be a favorite genre, book series, or author, ask your contributors for their book recommendations. For instance, you can have your sponsors create a list of books about diversity and social and emotional learning they think students will love. Sharing their favorite books about important topics and relatable themes will better connect your contributors to your mission and make them feel good about supporting your campaign.

4. Storytime Session

Further engage your contributors by inviting them to read books to your students. Offering your sponsors the opportunity to lead a read-aloud session, either in-person or virtually, gives them the chance to interact directly with the students they are supporting. Plus, your class will love hearing a story from a special guest.

5. Thank You Letters From Students

Students will be thrilled to receive their very own book that they can take home to keep forever. As a token of appreciation, have your students write a letter to thank their sponsor for their new gift. Your students can also share their favorite part of the book, a drawing of their favorite character, or any important lessons they learned from the story.
