Makes 25 to 30 cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 Tbsp milk
Glaze
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
- Sift 1½ cups flour with baking powder and salt into a large bowl.
- In another bowl, cream the butter with an electric mixer. Beat in sugar, egg, vanilla, and milk with a whisk attachment.
- Slowly stir in flour mixture. Add remaining flour a little at a time until the dough is stiff enough to roll out. Flatten dough into a disk and chill for at least two hours.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to about ?"; cut out shapes.
- Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool on the sheet for a couple of minutes, then transfer to a rack.
- Whisk the glaze ingredients together till smooth; for thinner glaze, add more milk. Drizzle or brush on the cookies.
