Scholastic Children's Defense Fund - Fellows Network

About the Program

The Scholastic Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Fellows program is an initiative designed to reach out to a diverse college population to increase interest in children's publishing.  Having a workforce that reflects our diverse and culturally rich society is essential to our success.

Open to current college students and graduating seniors, the Scholastic CDF Fellows program provides an opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of Scholastic businesses while also learning about child-related advocacy and policy making.

Each summer, the program introduces five college students to the publishing world through an intensive internship that takes place at Scholastic’s headquarters in New York City. During the internship, Fellows become fully contributing members of Scholastic. Fellows work side-by-side with Scholastic professionals, gaining exposure to various aspects of the industry, including the areas of editorial, design, marketing, and promotion.

Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books.  For over 85 years, Scholastic has emphasized quality products and a dedication to learning. Scholastic creates quality educational and entertaining materials and products for use in school and at home, including children's books, magazines, technology-based products, teacher materials, television programming, feature film, videos and toys. The Company distributes its products and services through a variety of channels, including proprietary school-based book clubs, school-based book fairs, and school-based and direct-to-home continuity programs; retail stores, schools, libraries and television networks; and the Company's Internet site, www.scholastic.com. Each of Scholastic's distinctive businesses supports the Company's mission to help children around the world learn to read and love to learn.
