Above, the short excerpts from two coaching sessions illustrate some key elements of the coaching partnership. These two eighth-grade teachers, Tenille Sadat and Gilda Medina, each taught a literacy lesson comparing the Latin American legend “La Llorona” (“The Weeping Woman”) to Sandra Cisneros’s short story “Woman Hollering Creek.” After observing each class, coach April Croy met with each teacher one-on-one for a debrief. Together they worked to analyze and rank (0, 1, or 2) the students’ written responses (exit tickets). Here are some highlights from the two coaching sessions.
