Between teaching, guiding, mentoring, and inspiring your child, a teacher's job is a lot of work. For National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8-12) -- or any time of year -- take the opportunity to say "thank you" for all that your child's teacher does.
We asked our Scholastic Parents Facebook Page audience for ways in which they show teacher appreciation to their child's teacher. Check out what they had to say -- it may spark some ideas! And we'd love to hear your ideas in the comments below.
"We get a clipboard and I let [my child] draw a tree and use her fingerprints as the leaves on the tree. She’s thanking her teacher for helping her grow a little more and learn more." -- Rebecca Portier
"I usually have my son draw a picture and/or little note and get a gift. Last year it was artisan bread, olive oil, and chocolate-covered pretzels. The year before was gourmet cupcakes and flowers." -- Sara Rodriquez
"My girls like to draw little notes with a picture throughout the year. They have also created a floral arrangement at our local Royer's [store] and decided on their own to give it to their teacher." -- Amanda Rosario
"Little gifts each day:
Monday: bagel and cream cheese
Tuesday: hand-written note and picture drawn by [my child]
Wednesday: spa products
Thursday: travel coffee mug and Starbucks gift card that says "Thanks A Latte"
Friday: candies
Then, flowers at the Teacher/Faculty/Staff luncheon :)" -- Karla de la Vega-Winters
From gifts to special messages, encourage your child to show her teachers just how important they are.
