My nine-year-old daughter loves hearing family stories and I can see these stories are helping her piece together an understanding of where each person sits in our family tree, how she is related to each family member (which is important when you are nine!), and how times have changed over the generations.
She loves spending time chatting with her grandparents (and great-grandparents) and there is really something special about the relationship they share. By hearing family anecdotes from my parents and in-laws, my daughter is developing her sense of self through a better understanding of her own family history and heritage.
