9 Inspiring Lunch Box Notes for Kids

May 20, 2019

I love including small, unexpected tokens of love in my kid’s lunch bags. Not every day but every now and then, especially when I feel they need a little extra encouragement — like starting a new school year with new teachers and a different mix of students, or when they’re having a tough time with friends, or even just because they’re tired because life is tiring! I know something as simple as a lunch bag surprise will bring a smile to their face and let them know that I am thinking of them.

One of the simplest ways I do this is with a little lunch bag note. This might be a little message I’ve hurriedly scribbled onto a post-it note in the midst of our crazy school morning routine or (when I’m a bit more organized!) a fun printed note that I’ve found online, and sometimes it’s even a combination of both.

This idea inspired me to create a set of lunch bag notes featuring a little inspiration from some of our favorite children’s titles. There are nine notes in total, and each note features a quote from a well-known kid’s book, with wisdom from Harry Potter, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, Wonder, and more.

To use these lunch bag notes with your own child I suggest printing a copy, cutting them apart, and popping them into the drawer or cupboard where you keep the lunch bags so that they're ready to use the next time you feel that your child could use a little extra love and encouragement. You can easily add a hand-drawn smiley face or handwritten "Love, Mom" in the corner, too.
