Harry Potter

At the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter thinks he’s ordinary. He’s an orphan, living with his aunt, uncle, and cousin at number four, Privet Drive since he was a baby.

On his 11th birthday, all that changes. A half-giant named Hagrid visits him and says the magic words, “Harry — yer a wizard.”

Of course, if you’re a Harry Potter fan, you know all this. But what you might not know is every little detail about Harry’s powers, adventures, friendships, and history.

Hermione Granger

Bookworms found their hero in Hermione Granger, whose love of studying teaches her the wonders of the Sorcerer’s Stone, how to brew Polyjuice Potion, and everything she needed to know to solve the mystery of a basilisk.

Hermione is the cleverest witch of her age, and the library is one of her favorite spots in Hogwarts: “'Where is she’ asked Harry…’Somewhere over there,’ said Ron, pointing along the shelves, ‘looking for another book. I think she’s trying to read the whole library before Christmas.’"

With her wand made of vine wood and dragon heartstring, she casts difficult spells far beyond her years. She is an expert at the Levitation Charm: “Hermione rolled up the sleeves of her gown, flicked her wand, and said, Wingardium Leviosa! Their feather rose off the desk and hovered about four feet above their heads. ‘Oh, well done!’ cried Professor Flitwick, clapping. Everyone see here, Miss Granger’s done it!’”

But even the most devoted Hermione fan probably doesn’t remember every instance of her bravery and loyalty to her friends — even if standing up for Harry and Ron means breaking the rules now and then. This Pocket Potter lists all her heroics, spells, and adventures.

Ron Weasley

The sixth of his siblings to go to Hogwarts, ginger-haired, Quidditch-obsessed Ron Weasley has a lot to live up to: “Everyone expects me to do as well as the others, but if I do, it’s no big deal, because they did it first.”

But no one, has ever been a better best friend than Ron. He sends Harry his first birthday card, encourages Neville to stand up to Draco, and gives Dobby the house elf his own maroon Weasley family sweater.

He also plays the best game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years — a skill that comes in handy when strategizing to help his friends.
