Wings of Fire FanWing Fest Featured in Publishers Weekly

Publishers Weekly FanWing Fest

Tui T. Sutherland’s Wings of Fire FanWing Fest, an immersive festival spotlighting the popular dragon fantasy series with more than 30 million copies in print, was recently featured in Publishers Weekly

As reported in the outlet, after debuting with a sold-out run last spring, the festival opened this year’s five-city tour in Asheville, N.C. and will continue across the country throughout May and June.

Sutherland and Scholastic Executive Editor Kieran Viola were both interviewed by Publishers Weekly, and Sutherland shared how special it is to visit with her readers and watch them form their own friendships with one another.

“I love meeting Wings of Fire readers, and my hope for FanWing Fest is that it’s an opportunity for them to meet each other—they’re all the sweetest, most creative people, and I want them to find their rainbow dragon book community together!” Sutherland said. “It makes me so happy to see everyone sharing their amazing art and costumes and love of reading. It gives me hope for the future, and I hope everyone who comes gets to feel that joy and connection, too.”

Viola added, “FanWing Fest is a unique fan experience that speaks to Scholastic’s ability to meet the ardent fans of Wings of Fire where they live. It really taps into readers’ incredible enthusiasm for Tui and the fantastical world she’s created and nurtured all these years.”

This year’s FanWing Fest is completely sold out. At each stop, readers will be transported to the world of dragons for the full day and have access to activities including face painting stations, coloring walls, trivia and game shows, a costume parade, exclusive merchandise, and the camaraderie of their fellow book lovers. They’ll also have the chance to interact with Sutherland during official photo opportunities and enjoy a presentation from the author with an insider look into the hit book series. All attendees will leave with an exclusive poster signed by Sutherland in addition to one of four Wings of Fire books.
