Message from Scholastic Regarding the Coronavirus

We are living through a crisis of global scale and impact, and our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This includes disruption for teachers and families because of sweeping school closings across the country, creating a nation of homeschooling parents and an urgent need for extended at-home learning resources. People are also turning to the comfort of books and reading as never before in these uncertain times. While we can’t predict what the future will bring, we will be here as your resource and partner – as we have been for the past 100 years.

How We’re Responding

Scholastic staff around the world have mobilized to provide much-needed resources for schools, kids and families as they adjust to the reality of school closings and social distancing: virtual-learning opportunities for students of all ages; quality books to help strengthen those learn-at-home experiences and create family reading moments; virtual professional development resources for teachers adapting to remote learning; and books and materials for families in need. And as more people turn to the comfort and joy of reading in these unsettled times, we are creating new ways to connect young readers to the stories and characters they love most.

Protecting the Health and Safety of Our Employees and Customers

The well-being and safety of our employees is our top priority, along with the customers and communities we serve. We closely follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for workplace safety and sanitation, and comply with local health and government regulations in the communities where we do business. With many of our teams in the U.S. and around the world now working remotely, we are communicating with them regularly, sharing all appropriate social-distancing directives, travel restriction updates, employee assistance resources and safety protocols. We are closely monitoring all developments related to the coronavirus, and are prepared to adjust our operations and procedures as needed to ensure the continued health and well-being of our employees and customers.
