Katherine Roberts

Katherine Roberts graduated from Bath University with a degree in mathematics, and her diverse resume includes working with computers, racehorses, and in a pet shop, in order to pay the bills. Through it all, Katherine allowed her imagination to take her to the fantastic worlds she was writing about, and kept at it. Although she was hesitant to send her work out at first (she did not send her work to any publishers until she was almost thirty years old), her dedication to the craft paid off. In 1999, her first novel, the dazzling SONG QUEST, was published, and it was immediately embraced by the literary world, winning the Branford Boase Award for an outstanding first novel.

Katherine always loved telling stories. As a child, she would tell her younger brother bedtime stories, which she made up herself. Her parents bought her a typewriter to write her stories on, and she says her first finished story, written when she was sixteen, was "a space opera typed on blue and yellow paper." While surely her fans would enjoy reading it, she says no publisher has ever seen it, nor does she expect them to.

With the success of Katherine's Echorium Sequence books, hers is a name we expect to see on best-selling novels for many years to come.
