What you need:
- glass jar with lid
- sand, rocks, or moss
- potting soil
- small plants
- spoon or chopstick
- figurines for decoration
What to do:
- Fill a large glass jar with a 1" layer of sand or rocks. Next, add a layer of potting soil.
- Dig a few small holes in the soil using a spoon or a chopstick and plant small plants you've found in your yard or purchased. Make sure that the soil covers the roots and add another 1" layer of rocks or moss.
- Arrange decorations in the jar, such as animal figurines or a frog pond. Water the plants, replace the lid, and place the jar in a window.
- Because the jar is sealed, very little water escapes or needs to be added. You will have to keep close watch and water the plants only every 10 days or so — be careful not to over-water!
