Tui Sutherland is The New York Times bestselling author of the Wings of Fire series and the fifth book in the Spirit Animals series, along with more than 30 other books for children, including everything from easy-to-reads to middle-grade biographies to teen sci-fi and romantic comedy. She was also an editor in children’s publishing for several years and is happy to talk about that side of the process during her presentation.
Tui wrote three of the best-selling Seekers books (as part of the Erin Hunter team), the Pet Trouble series, the Menagerie trilogy with her sister, and she has been published under a number of pseudonyms, including Heather Williams (for two Little House on the Prairie spin-offs) and Tamara Summers (Never Bite a Boy on the First Date). In 2009, she was a two-day champion on Jeopardy!
More information about her and her books can be found at www.tuibooks.com.
Her school visit presentation is a behind-the-scenes look at publishing and the writing process — where do ideas come from, how do you develop characters, what kind of research goes into writing a dragon fantasy, etc. She especially loves answering questions from the students! She is also happy to meet with smaller groups like book clubs, writing groups, or Girl Scout troops.

Conference and Festival Appearances
Tui would absolutely love to come to your conference or festival if she can. Panels with other authors are her favorite thing! Among other things, she’d love to be included in discussions about fantasy world building, mythical creatures, writing animal characters, prophecies, writing routines, how to plan out a series, why children’s books are more awesome than grown-up books, and balancing writing with life (in the hopes that someone can tell her how to do that).
Virtual Visits
Tui is happy to drop in for a 20-minute virtual visit and Q&A with book groups, classes, or library groups that have read at least one of her books.
Honorarium
$2,000 per day plus expenses (up to 3 groups/presentations)
$300 for a single presentation/discussion group for local appearances
