SUPPORTING CLASSROOM LIBRARIES

1. Spreading Love Through Books
As a 7th-grade teacher, Bailey has done her best to keep her classroom updated with relevant books she purchased with her own funds—almost 1,100 of them! Now she wants to carry on the tradition by providing her students with the titles they need to learn to be kind, to love themselves and one another. Bailey is more than halfway to her $500 goal!

2. Keeping Kids “Together”
Heather’s excited to offer each of her students contemporary books which appeal to all of their diverse interests. Heather is so close to her $400 goal to get books into the hands of each of her six graders so they can continue to read together.

3. Supporting a Culturally Relevant Classroom
Rionna has many teaching goals but her big one for the new school year is creating a culturally relevant classroom library and ensuring her book collection supports that. Rionna also plans to gift a new book to each student every month.

4. Buying Books Her Students Devour

5. Distributing Books in Rural Communities
Lisa teaches in a very rural area and is unable to share her classroom library during social distancing. She’s looking to support her students by building out their home libraries, sending three books home with each of her 22 students this school year to grow lifelong readers!

6. Supporting Students in Other Languages
Abbie has worked with at-risk, Spanish-speaking students and their families for over six years and understands first-hand the impact that “quality literature has in developing a passion for language and reading.” Sadly, Abbie has also seen the impact distance learning has had on students who don’t have the right books in their home — especially Spanish titles. To combat this, Abbie is very close to her $500 goal, so each child has reading materials in their home language in their homes.

7. Buying Books for Buddies
Julia’s first grade “buddies” enjoy receiving monthly books so they can grow home libraries. With around 28 new students arriving this year, she is hoping to inspire her students to read along with their families. Each time these kids receive a new book, they are excited, and that didn’t stop during virtual learning – Samantha delivered books herself! She is seeking $600 to keep her kids’ bookshelves stocked.

8. Giving Kids a Choice
Last year, Joy raised funds to give each of her students a book a month for their home libraries. The only issue is that students didn’t have ownership in choosing their own titles. This year, Joy is raising $220 and plans to use that money to allow her students to each pick out their own books.

9. Influencing Futures with Books
Jill believes the presence of books in the home has a greater influence on a child’s level of education than most other factors and that even just 20 books at home can have a huge impact on a child’s education. With the disruption of COVID-19, Jill is focused on adding ten new books to her students’ home libraries to increase their potential for literacy success.

10. A Reading Constant
Michelle wants to guarantee her 1st-grade students have reading materials as a constant in their homes – especially during these uncertain times. With her campaign goal of $600, she wants to provide each student with nine quality literature books in varying genres.
