Now is the time to establish classroom rules and respectful behavior for your new firsties. Here are three fun ways:

1.     Watch a Video
Introduce your lesson with our “Good Citizens” video. This short video created just for first graders shows kids how they can be caring, cooperative, and respectful citizens.

2.     Read an Article Together
Read our Scholastic News issue “Good School Citizens” as a class. Kids will be able to interact with the text by reading aloud the repetitive text. They can also color in the stars for each photo to show that they will be good school citizens this year.

3.     Do a Craft
Make personalized flip-up stars to help kids get to know each other and let them know they are all-star citizens!

Don’t miss your chance to bring fun, hands-on lessons like these into your classroom all year long. Sign up for a FREE 30-day trial and discover how Scholastic News can help you engage students in seasonal lessons all year long.
