The Power of Green program reinforces language arts, math, and science skills while exploring tips for conserving energy and recycling, and teaching about electric and gas safety.
Students turn environment-friendly concepts into actions with this creative writing activity.
Skills supporting learning standards: vocabulary development, writing informative/explanatory text, participating in group discussions
In this activity, students will turn environment-friendly concepts into action plans. Distribute copies of the "Turning Words Into Actions" worksheet to students. The sheet includes catchphrases or directives with which students will likely be familiar. For each one, students should list related actions that they and others can take to make the concept a reality. For example, for "save energy," an action might include "unplug phone and iPod chargers when not in use." Review the instructions with students and have them share their ideas after they've completed the page.
