The Power of Green program reinforces language arts, math, and science skills while exploring tips for conserving energy and recycling, and teaching about electric and gas safety.
How can students save energy at home and at school? This activity will have students thinking about their energy habits.
Skills supporting learning standards: writing informative/explanatory text, participating in group discussions
1. Distribute copies of the worksheet, which includes a "Power of Green" pledge. Tell students that they can use this sheet to brainstorm ways they can save energy at home and at school.
2. Have students share the worksheet with their parents. Consider making copies of the family pledge for students to take home.
3. Follow up with students one to two weeks after they complete the page and take the pledge. Discuss the experience with students. Ask: What did you learn? What energy habits did you change? What will you tell others about how to save energy and the planet?
