A Book Of Life
Sojourner Truth kept a "Book of Life," a scrapbook/autograph book. Abraham Lincoln signed it, and so did Ulysses S. Grant. Ask students to think about what they would include in their own books. Suggest that they start a classroom "Book of Life." Students can discuss which events in their own lives, in and out of school, they would like to include. They may want to keep track of local, national, and world events, too. Suggest that they make a list of people they admire. Students can then write letters to them.
