- Heavy paper
- Mural paper
- Big Book of My River
Help children see that Shari Halpern used a technique which is a combination of painting and cutting paper to create the pictures in My River.
Children can use the same technique to create their own pictures of the creatures and plants that need the river. Encourage children to label their drawings with sentences. Invite children to draw a river scene on mural paper and to add water animals and plants to the river community.
Observation: Notice how children show the relationship between the individual water animals and the river community.
