Sipho is a 12-year-old African boy who runs away from an abusive home and lives on the streets in the suburbs of Johannesburg. He discovers that the life of the street children he encounters is begging for coins, sleeping under cardboard boxes, and sniffing glue. His rescue comes only after many experiences that expose the lives of homeless South African children. Surviving hunger and bitter-cold winter nights is hard — but learning when to trust in the ‘ new' South Africa proves even more difficult. No Turning Back appeared on the short list of both the Guardian and Smarties book prizes on the United Kingdom.
