Here is a touching story of the love and admiration shared by two young African-American sisters who spend a day together in which each sister take turns following in the other's footsteps. Kyla begins her day adding honey to her cereal while her little sister watches and does the same. For the rest of the day, the little girl mimics her older sister's actions — braiding her hair, frolicking with the birds in the yard, standing at the window — only to find that in the evening the tables turn, and Kyla begins to imitate her!
An ordinary day becomes a reflection of the connection the two sisters share, and the colorful paintings, by James Ransome, conveys the warmth between them. This is a suitable introduction to family relationships and the special bond shared by siblings.
