Scholastic's Free Content Calendar for Quick Planning

By Lindsey Petlak
Grades PreK–K, 1–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9–12

CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve kicked off your school year in the best of ways and you’re really starting to get into the groove . . . now what? The beginning of the school year is often a whirlwind of organizing supplies, meeting new students and parents, open house, team building, rules, and routines. Then, comes October. It’s time to plan, kick in that district curriculum, and still keep your kiddos interested and engaged.

I’m here today to rave about a simple little Scholastic teacher resource that often goes overlooked: the monthly Teacher Planning Calendar! Every month has at least one cool event, fact, or holiday that has corresponding activities and/or resources on the site available for you. You could literally have something planned FOR YOU every single day of the school year. The best part? This calendar provides unique daily events, beyond what you might expect from seasonal happenings. The linked activities and resources are meaningful, well curated, and there is something for all grade levels and interests.

To underscore how easy and valuable this tool is, I want to lead you through finding, accessing, and using the calendar to the max. For instance, there are two types of calendar: one interactive version to use online and the other, printable version you can use online or off. Check out my tutorial videos below to get the scoop so that you may get started with the Teachers' Planning Calendar today to make planning for tomorrow, next week, and months to come a snap!
