November 22, 2011 Happy Thanksgiving By Jeremy Brunaccioni
Grades PreK–K

With the start of this school year, I unexpectedly lost my mother. She was in her early 60s and had battled cancer for 18 years. She was the mom my friends could go to if their home life wasn’t what it should be, the mom you could count on to take care of you when you were sick, the mom who would be there for you no matter what path you chose in life.  Not having Mom here this Thanksgiving puts a whole new spin on what I’m thankful for.

I am thankful for my wonderful family, my brother and sister, dad, aunts and cousins, and my good dog Finn.

I am thankful for the chance to make a difference both through teaching and volunteering.

I am thankful for all of the supportive friends that enrich my life.

I am thankful for the wonderful literature that I have access to, whether it be picture books, poems, or novels.

I am thankful for having had a mother that supported me in all that I do and giving me the courage to try.
