In the fall of Thu-Huong Ha's freshman year of high school, she was in a bookstore, flipping through some books published by Scholastic's PUSH imprint. "I saw an ad for the novel writing contest," she stated. "Having written some poetry and short stories, I decided to embark on something bigger and enter the contest." On the morning of the last day to enter the contest in the spring of 2003, Thu-Huong's father rushed the manuscript to the post office. Two months later, PUSH editor David Levithan called to inform her that she won the contest. The prize was the opportunity to work with him for a chance to have the novel published. Thu-Huong spent two summers as the PUSH intern, and spent the time working on the manuscript for Hail Caesar.
Thu-Huong Ha is currently attending Princeton University in New Jersey.
