Before becoming a writer, as well as a piano and recorder teacher, Sally - like most of the members of her family - worked at the nearby paper mill, where she married the man who sat opposite her. Sally Prue first started inventing stories as a teenager, and was always fascinated by words and their histories but admits that her stories usually turned out a mess.
These days Sally lives in Hertfordshire and has 2 daughters. When not writing and teaching, she enjoys walking, painting, day-dreaming, reading and gardening. She has two elderly guinea pigs, one of which, Sophie, appears in Cold Tom.
