Marilyn Nelson is the author of many acclaimed books for young people and adults, including A Wreath for Emmett Till, a 2006 Michael L. Printz Honor Book and a Coretta Scott King Honor Book, and Carver: A Life in Poems, a Newbery Honor book and a Coretta Scott King Honor Book. Her most recent title is Pemba's Song: A Ghost Story, co-written with Tonya C. Hegamin. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Marilyn moved between many different military bases because her father was in the United States Air Force. Always being the new kid encouraged her to start writing in elementary school, and she has been writing ever since. Marilyn Nelson currently lives in East Haddam, Connecticut.
