Award-winning author Sandra Markle is best known for her books about science and nature that make discovery learning fun. She has written more than 200 books for children, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science Prize for Excellence book The Case of the Vanishing Golden Frogs, the Bank Street College Best Children’s Books of the Year List and Parent's Choice Recommended book What If You Had Animal Teeth!?, a Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards Honor Book A Mother’s Journey, and numerous National Science Teachers Association Outstanding Science Trade Books, such as The Great Penguin Rescue and Waiting for Ice, and American Library Association and Junior Library Guild Selection books, such as Hip Pocket Papa.
Sandra Markle has also developed science specials for CNN and PBS. Through her work with the National Science Foundation, she traveled extensively in Antarctica providing remote reporting to schools even during the winter when temperatures dropped to -129 degrees Fahrenheit. She appeared as “Ms. Whiz” on local television in Atlanta, Georgia, and continues to share the magic of discovery-learning during her in-person and virtual school visits.
