Conference and Festival Appearances

Hands-On/Minds-On STEM Starters

60 minutes

Teachers and librarians/media specialists will receive ready-to-go STEM activities with book connections. Activities focus on developing investigative skills: observing, communicating, inferring and predicting. Sandra will share books for both launching learning and enriching the experience to help children assimilate those skills. Those attending each receive a workbook of original activities Markle created for K-6 teachers. They will have an opportunity to perform the activities, explore the book connections and be ready to put them into action with their students. Permission to reproduce the workbook activities is supplied to all those attending the workshop.

Virtual Visits

Sandra also presents a 30-minute Skype Visit version of Sandra Markle's Books are Read Adventures.

This presentation includes science magic and, since she is at home, it includes some WOW chemical experiments she doesn’t bring to schools. She also tells behind-her-book stories and allows time for children to ask her questions.

Because she is inviting children into her home, Sandra Markle’s Skype visits also include a special extra that’s always a big hit — a look inside her Book Closet. This is a large closet displaying her 200 published titles plus surprising souvenirs from her worldwide explorations. Sandra Markle supplies “Before I Visit” materials.

AV and Tech Needs for In-Person Visits

Markle brings her own computer and presentation materials except for some things that can be obtained at a local grocery including water, quart jars, and vinegar and ammonia. She needs access to an electrical outlet. She requires a clip-on microphone for large group/auditorium presentations.

Honorarium
