The name Mahtab means Moonlight in Persian. Mahtab Narsimhan was born in Bombay and immigrated to Canada in 1997. Her debut novel, The Third Eye (Dundurn, 2007), the first of the Tara Trilogy, won the Silver Birch Fiction Award in 2009. This award is part of the Forest of Reading program celebrated across the province of Ontario where students select the winner. Mahtab’s most recent novel, Mission Mumbai, was released in March of 2016 and has already received excellent reviews.
Mahtab is one of the four Writers in Residence (2015–2016) at the Toronto District School Board for the second year running. She lives in Toronto with her husband, son, and Golden Retriever. She is deeply committed to representing diversity in her stories.
