Description of the Author’s Presentation

Grades PreK-2
30-45 minutes

Amariah will have an interactive discussion with the children about what it means to be an illustrator. She will then read the book aloud with a focus on the illustrations. She will call attention to the pictures.

Then Amariah demonstrates how to draw a book character. She talks about facial expressions and demonstrates how very simple changes to a character’s facial features will affect the character’s expression. She will give each student a coloring page handout so that they can practice drawing facial expressions independently.

AV and Tech Needs for In-Person Visits

Amariah will need a marker board to do the illustration demonstration.

Amariah does not charge an honorarium to schools located in the Illinois Ball-Chatham school district.
