Michele Wong McSween Author Visit Kit

Grades

PreK–K, 1–2, 3–5

Michele Wong McSween is the author of My First Mandarin Words with Gordon & Li Li. As a fourth generation Chinese American, Michele wanted to be sure her sons were confident with the Chinese language and culture. After enrolling them in early learning Mandarin classes, McSween looked for engaging Mandarin books and found little was available. She created Gordon & Li Li with an appealing, simple, modern design aesthetic that would engage kids and parents alike. Gordon & Li Li is an adorable and informative must-have first words book for any family who wanted to get little ones excited to open the door to learning a second language—and future language success!

Michele’s energetic, lively, and animated personality encourages little ones and adults to participate during her engaging presentation. By the end of her presentation, participants will learn everyday words, animals, and how to count in Mandarin!

Michele’s first career was a fashion designer for Old Navy and holds degrees from University of California at Berkeley and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and three sons. Her website is: www.gordonandlili.com. Follow Michele on Instagram @gordonandlili.
