Isabel Quintero is an award-winning author of children’s and YA books, who resides in Southern California. Her first book Gabi, a Girl in Pieces, received several awards including the Tomas Rivera Award, The California Book Award Gold Medal, and the Morris Award for Debut YA. Her graphic novel, Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide, earned the Boston Globe Horn Book Award.
She has also written a children's book series for Scholastic, Ugly Cat and Pablo, about two unlikely friends getting into mischief and learning what it means to be good friends along the way. Isabel has worked in education from the age of 17 in various capacities.
She’s been an AVID Tutor, English teacher, elementary school library tech, and adjunct English instructor. She enjoys presenting to and engaging with youth at various stages. She can also present to adults, teachers, staff, and parents. She speaks both English and Spanish, and when given advance notice can translate her presentation.
