Laura Terry is the author and illustrator of the graphic novel Graveyard Shakes, a 2017 Junior Library Guild selection. She loves talking about comics and the process of making them. Description of the Author’s Presentation

Laura’s presentation is a visual retelling of her journey from voracious reader to enthusiastic graphic novelist. She shows what the process of making a comic is like from start to finish, and how easy and fun it is to make mini-comics. It includes a Q&A session and If time permits, an exercise on how you can make a comic from a single page of paper and a pencil.

Virtual Visits

Laura is happy to drop by for a 30-minute virtual visit and Q&A with book clubs, classes, and library groups using Skype. The cost is $100.

AV and Tech Needs for In-Person Visits

Laura will bring a PowerPoint presentation on a flash drive. She’ll need a computer and projector to display it, and a microphone for large groups.


Laura Terry’s honorarium is $500 for visits in the New York City area, if the commute is an hour or less. $1,000 per day plus travel and lodging expenses if outside of the New York area.
