Going to Oregon in a covered wagon sounded like a grand adventure, but Josh soon found out that it was also about work and hardship.

Josh knows all about moving. He moved from St. Joseph, Missouri all the way to Oregon. It took seven months. Why? Because Josh and his family went to Oregon along the Oregon Trail, in 1848, as part of a wagon train.

But the weather wasn’t the only thing they had to cope with. Not everyone who started on the journey made it to Oregon – people died. Not everything that started on the journey made it to Oregon, either. When the wagon train got behind schedule, families had to leave furniture, pictures and keepsakes beside the Trail.
