Three times a year, my students and their families participate in student-led conferences. I find this is the most powerful way for me to communicate to parents how their child is developing academically and socially. I get 100% family participation. The students and I set up interactive centers around the room with tasks for families to do together or class projects the children will explain. At the final center, the families speak with me and get their child's report card. We practice during the week before the conferences. Because these conferences are student-led, there isn't much more I need to share with their parents!
