Shared Writing

Write about feelings:

Talk about how Peter must have felt at different points in the story. Write children's ideas on chart paper. Then invite children to write a sentence on their own paper about how Peter probably felt at a certain time in the story.

  • Peter felt happy when he was eating the lettuce.
  • Peter felt sad when the mouse could not help him.
  • Peter felt scared when Mr. McGregor chased him.
  • Peter felt sick when he got home.

Children can illustrate their sentences and read them to one another.
