Pumpkin Pie

Feed their minds: Share a pumpkin-themed book, such as Pumpkins, by Ken Robbins, or The Biggest Pumpkin Ever, by Steven Kroll.

Feed their tummies: Collect graham crackers, butter, canned pumpkin, nonfat dairy topping, pumpkin pie spice, small Ziploc bags, small plastic bowls, and spoons. How to do it: Whip up individual-sized portions of this better-for-you version of pumpkin pie. Allow each student to crush a few graham crackers inside the small Ziploc bag.

Mix the graham cracker crumbs with one to two teaspoons of melted butter, and press the mixture onto the bottom and sides of the plastic bowls. Combine the canned pumpkin, nonfat dairy topping, and pumpkin pie spice to taste. Spoon the pumpkin mixture into the bowls and top with nonfat dairy topping.
