THE PIZZA SHOP (Language Arts—Writing)

Using The Popcorn Shop as a model, have children collaborate and write a story about Pizza Nell's Pizza Shop. What might happen to the pizza? Where in the neighborhood might it travel? As students tell you their ideas, write them on the chalkboard. Then ask volunteers to write and/or illustrate different pages for the book. Children can work in pairs for each page. If writing in rhyme is too difficult, encourage children to write in prose. When children are satisfied with their work, have them put all the pages together in a book and design a cover. Place the book in the classroom library.
